Carandiru – Outras Histórias

Opening for tv series “Carandiru-Outra Histórias” directed by Hector Babenco and aired on Globo TV, a title sequence that followed his feature film Carandiru. Videos and stills were produced throughout Sao Paulo and at the actual jailhouse the series is set on. They were combined to present the contrast between life inside the institution and in the city that houses it.

It was created and produced by me, Carlos Baer and Luiz Evandro. I made the art direction for the opening sequence and also created the logo of Carandiru-Outras Histórias. A visit to the Jailhouse, prisioner’s drawings from the wall and the works with collage by Dan Eldon and Peter Beard were the inspirations for my work in this project.

This work was selected for the 8th Biennial of Design (ADG- Graphic Designers Association).

Abertura da mini-série Carandiru-Outras Histórias, uma sequência do filme Carandiru do diretor Hector Babenco que foi ao ar pela Rede Globo. Vídeos e fotos foram produzidas em São Paulo e no presídio Carandiru onde a série foi filmada. Eles foram combinados para apresentar o contraste que existe entre a vida dentro e fora da instituição.

Foi criado e produzido por mim, Carlos Baer e Luiz Evandro. Eu fiz os layouts e a direção de arte da abertura e também criei o logotipo da mini-série. A visita ao presídio Carandiru, os desenhos na parede feito pelos próprios presidiarios e também os trabalhos com colagens de Dan Eldon e Peter Beard foram as minhas inspirações para este projeto.

Esta abertura foi selecionada para a 8ª Bienal de Design (ADG).

Air Jordan :: History of Flight

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Air Jordan and the recent induction of Michael Jordan into the Basketball Hall of Fame, Nike has launched a micro-site called “History of Flight”. It’s an online book that tells the history of Jordan’s Brand and interesting facts of his career over these years. The site’s design is beautiful and clean with pop up elements in animation that instigate interaction. All this combined with the myth of Michael Jordan makes the site very interesting. It’s definetly worth check the “History of Flight”.

Para celebrar os 25 anos do Air Jordan e a recente inclusão de Michael Jordan para o Hall da Fama do Basquete, a Nike lançou um site chamado “History of Flight”. É um livro online que conta um pouco da trajetória da marca e lances marcantes e fatos interessantes da carreira de Jordan ao longo desses anos. O visual do site é clean e bonito com elementos em pop up em animação que instiga a interação. Tudo isso aliado ao mito Michael Jordan torna o site muito interessante. Vale a pena conferir “History of Flight”.

Children’s Day

This funny animation was a self promotion for Pub Motion Graphics. The theme was the Children’s day in Brazil (October 12th). It was an experimental piece inspired by childhood memories like cartoons, Atari and others video-games. The title “Animação Pub Motion Graphics” uses a typography and colours inspired by Space Invaders. The world of Mario Bros, Lego and Nemo also were inpirations for this piece as well as the great japanese artist Hokusai .

Esta animação foi criada como auto promoção do estúdio Pub Motion Graphics. O tema foi o dia das crianças no Brasil (12 de outubro). Este trabalho experimental foi inspirado por lembranças da infância, como cartoons, Atari e outros vídeo-games. O título “Animação Pub Motion Graphics” usa tipografia e cores inspiradas no jogo Space Invaders. O mundo de Mario Bros, Lego e Nemo também foram inspiração para esta peça. Agency Africa’s signature ID

Africa Propaganda é uma das agências publicitárias que mais investem em auto-promoção. Por isso foi criada uma assinatura própria para seus filmes na tv e internet. A assinatura foi baseada na logo da agência e também em texturas africanas.

Nina Website

Website for the movie Nina (2004), directed by Heitor Dhalia. Frames from the movie and illustrations by Lourenço Mutarelli were mixed in layout with deconstructed typography as overlay button + illustration flashes and graphics interferences to represent the characteristic of the movie and the character Nina.

The website was awarded with Bronze (Net Marketing – Promotion of cultural products and services) at VIII ABOUT PRIZE of Communication, 2004.

Website para o filme Nina (2004), dirigido por Heitor Dhalia. Frames do filme e ilustrações de Lourenço Mutarelli foram usadas no layout com tipografias desconstruídas + flashes das ilustrações e interferências gráficas para representar a característica do filme e do personagem Nina.

O site foi premiado com o bronze (Net Marketing – Promoção de produtos e serviços culturais) no VIII Prêmio ABOUT de Comunicação, 2004.
