Japan-based Mobile Art Lab has taken iPhone innovation in a new, more kid-friendly direction with the introduction of the PhoneBook. The software and book-like construct combination offers a child and parent the opportunity to read interactive stories or learn simple math lessons together.
The user simply loads the iPhone software up, slides the iPhone into the book holder slot and the interactive learning can begin.
The makers worked on the project under the slogan “Analog on the Digital Technology”. I think they had a brilliant idea that maybe can be extended to others areas and publics.

A Mobile Art Lab do Japão se utilizou da inovação e interatividade do iPhone e a direcionou para o público infantil com o lançamento do PhoneBook. O software + Livro fazem uma combinação que oferece, para criança e pais, a oportunidade de ler histórias interativas e aprender lições de matemática juntos.
O usuário simplesmente abre o software do iPhone, posiciona o iPhone no livro e o aprendizado interativo começa.
Os fabricantes trabalharam no projeto com o slogan “Analógico + Tecnologia Digital”. Eu acho que eles tiveram uma idéia brilhante que talvez possa ser extendida a outros domínios e públicos, também.

“Coração de Andróide” é um clássico da literatura infanto-juvenil escrito por Pedro Cavalcanti para a Cia das Letras.

10 years of MTV Brazil’s Book

This book is not brand new but I still like it. It was released in the year 2000 to commemorate 10 years of MTV Brazil. It was not publicized and not for sale. It was only distributed to a list of people. With a landscape orientation (185 x 140 x 5 mm) to go along with the concept of the TV format, the book of 757 pages is a visual portrait of the history of 10 years of MTV in Brazil.

This was my first project after graduation and my first great project since I came from Curitiba to Sao Paulo to work at Galpao F Design. I had the opportunity to participate in this project and the freedom to suggest ideas like the landscape orientation to strengthen the concept and also help in the layout. I had the honor of creating the logo for the 10 years of MTV Brazil that appears on the cover of the book. And the challenge and freedom to layout many of the 757 pages of the book, creating ways to display on each double-page spread the visual history of the bumpers, openings and the tv’s campaign, carefully aligning every detail to the visual style and colors.

The book of 10 years MTV Brazil was selected for the 6th Biennial of Design by ADG (Graphic Designers Association) and was also selected and was showcased in the exibition “Brazil 500 years” in the category Graphic Design / Books.

10 years of MTV Brasil’s Logo

Este livro não é novo mas eu ainda gosto muito dele. Ele foi lançado no ano 2000 para comemorar os 10 anos de MTV Brasil. Ele não foi muito divulgado e também não comercializado e só foi distribuido para uma lista de pessoas. Com um formato horizontal 185 x 140 x 5 mm para seguir o conceito do formato da mídia TV, o livro de 757 páginas é um retrato visual da história dos 10 anos da MTV no Brasil.

Este foi meu primeiro projeto depois de formado e o primeiro desde que vim de Curitiba para São Paulo para trabalhar no estúdio Galpão F Design. Tive a oportunidade de participar desse projeto e a liberdade de sugerir idéias como o formato horizontal do livro para fortalecer o conceito e também ajudar na diagramação. Tive a honra de criar o logo de 10 anos de MTV Brasil que estampa a capa do livro. E o desafio e a liberdade para diagramar muitas das 757 paginas do livro, criando meios de mostrar em cada página dupla a história visual de uma vinheta, abertura de programa ou campanha da emissora, com cuidado em cada detalhe seguindo a linha visual e cores em questão.

O livro de 10 anos MTV Brasil foi premiado na 6ª Bienal de Design realizada pela ADG (Associação de Designers Gráficos) e também foi selecionado e participou da exposição “Brasil 500 anos” na categoria Design Gráfico / Livros.

Kevin Dart and Stephane Coedel created this trailer to promote the launch of Kevin’s new book: “Seductive Espionage, the world of Yuki 7″.

The trailer has a vintage style with faded logo, audio pops, use of depth of field and film grain. The James Bond’s films “Thunderball” and “You Only Live Twice” were some of the inspiration for Kevin Dart. It is worthwhile to read his interview on artofthetitle.com and grainedit.com.
